Noughts + Crosses

Mammoth Screen Limited, Participant Media, Roc Nation

- Drama Series: English Language

Malorie Blackman wrote Noughts and Crosses 20 years ago to shine a light on injustice and racism in society. The adaptation was broadcast in a time when these issues are more relevant than ever. Noughts + Crosses is a bold, provocative series, and visually totally original. In creating a world with an alternate history, every aspect of the show fed into the same ambition to interrogate the structures that have created society. From hair, makeup and costume to the reimagining of London with an African history through architecture, landscape and music. The show incorporated the west African language, Yoruba, that is familiar to many of the West African diaspora. The series has propelled rising talents from actors Masali Baduza and Jack Rowan to director Koby Adom and its writers, Lydia Adetunji, Nathaniel Price and Rachel De-Lahay. It was essential that the team behind this show reflected a diverse community of creatives both on and off screen.
