Guidelines & Specs

Entry fees

- Submissions received before Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST are US$350 per entry.

 - Submissions received between Saturday, November 18, 2023 and Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST are US$450 per entry. Provincial taxes for Canadian companies apply.

- You will be prompted to pay these fees by Visa, Mastercard or AMEX.

- Paid entries that are ineligible, incomplete or removed at the request of the Entrant cannot be refunded. You may substitute your original entry with another program before the final deadline Friday, January 26, 2024 (11:59 PM EST). If you wish to withdraw a paid entry please notify the Awards Coordinator to have it removed from the competition. Entry fees will not be refunded.

 

Submission Checklist

By the closing deadline of Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST, you must:

1. Complete the online entry form. At any time during the entry period, you may change or add new information. When you return to add more information to your entry, you must click "Edit" to proceed.

2. Upload two videos. Please review all technical specifications before uploading any files. Digital files over 1 GB will not be accepted.

+ One full episode (in the case of a series), or the program in its entirety (in the case of one-offs). 
+ One 30-second clip from the program. This must be a direct lift, not a promotional trailer, title sequence, or compilation of scenes. In the event of a nomination, this clip or a portion thereof may be used at the 2024 Rockie Awards ceremony (in-person or virtual), on the 2024 Rockie Awards website or for other promotional purposes.

For podcast categories, entrants must submit one MP3 audio file per entry.

3. Upload two promotional images.

+ One 1920px wide by 1080px high image of the show/talent only, no logos, show titles or other text.
+ One promotional photo which may include logos, show titles or other text.

4. Submit payment. Each entry is US$350 for Early Bird (expires Friday,  November 17, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST) and US$450 Regular (Provincial taxes for Canadian companies apply). You will be prompted to pay these fees by Visa, Mastercard or AMEX.

Video Specs for Full Program Upload:

  • File format: H.264 MPEG-4 video in .mp4 file format
  • File size limit: 1000 MB
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 NTSC (1280 x 720)
  • Frame rate: Up to 30 frames per second (constant frame rate)
  • Profile: Main Profile Level 3.1
  • Audio: AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio
  • Please include the title of your program in the naming of the digital file provided (example: PROGRAM TITLE - full.mp4)


Video Specs for 30-Second Clip Upload:

  • File format: H.264 MPEG-4 video in .mp4 file format
  • File size limit: 500 MB
  • Aspect ratio:16:9 NTSC (1280 x 720)
  • Frame rate: Up to 30 frames per second (constant frame rate)
  • Profile: Main Profile Level 3.1
  • Audio: AAC-LC audio up to 320 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio
  • Must be a clean excerpt free of logos, company names, time codes etc. This is not a promotional trailer.
  • Please include the title of your program in the naming of the digital file provided (example: PROGRAM TITLE - clip.mp4)


Audio Specs for Podcast Upload:

  • File format: .mp3
  • Minimum 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio


Promotional Image Specs (2 separate photos required)

Promo Photo One:

  • File format: JPG
  • Minimum 500KB, 300dpi, 1920px wide by 1080px high
  • Landscape orientation, show/talent images only, no logos, no show titles or other text


Promo Photo Two:

  • File format: JPG
  • Minimum 500KB, 300dpi
  • Official promo photo may have logos, show titles or other text

 

Rights Clearance:

By submitting video, digital and/or any content, or any forms of entertainment, advertising or promotional materials as part of an entry to the 2024 Rockies Awards, you grant permission to the Banff World Media Festival to: show, play and/or publicly exhibit the submitted content at the 2024 Banff World Media Festival and the 2024 Rockie Awards ceremony (the “Events”); to exhibit and communicate submitted content to the public by telecommunication at the Events; and to charge admission to the Events where it is exhibited. Entrant companies acknowledge and agree that the Banff World Media Festival may use the content, or any reproduction of the submitted content in whole or in part, in telecasts, webcasts, live streaming, social media, exhibits, books, pamphlets, and other publications featuring or promoting award entries, and for which the Banff World Media Festival may receive compensation. The entrant company holds all necessary rights and/or licenses for such uses of the submitted content by the Banff World Media Festival as referenced above, including all music and other works contained within the content.

Entrant companies shall be responsible and shall hold the Banff World Media Festival, its assignees and licensees harmless for talent and/or other residual fees or claims arising by or due to the uses of the submitted content by the Banff World Media Festival as referenced above. Entrant companies submitting content to the 2024 Rockies Awards certify and confirm that they have the full authority to grant the rights to the Banff World Media Festival for the uses referenced above, on its behalf and on behalf of any client for whom the content was produced.
