“Dublin Murders,” written, created and executive produced by Sarah Phelps, is an adaptation of Tana French’s best-selling crime novels from the Dublin Murder Squad series, In the Woods and The Likeness. Both novels and the series share a very important quality: they were created and written by women and therefore, forego the hypermasculine tropes often associated with the genre. The female lens attributed to the storyline and the character make for a unique and nuanced brand of storytelling, both initiated by French and continued with Phelps’s adaptation.
