The Rap Game UK didn’t follow the usual music entertainment tropes. The series included: On-screen talent were 92% (main contributors and presenters 90% with special guest mentors 93.75%). Most of the cast came from outside the M25 including Leeds, Birmingham and Scotland. It changed perceptions of rap as a London thing and highlighted the heavy influence of Midlands talent on rap music, with particular focus on Birmingham. This was accompanied by a national marketing campaign including billboards in each of the artists home towns with the theme that rap is national. The series showcased the best of established British music talent. Viewers were able to see the inner workings of the music industry - technically, production, performance, collaboration, and visually. The format was NOT a traditional music format with harsh eliminations. Instead, the ethos of the show is to provide mentoring, guidance and constructive feedback to the artists to enable them to realise their potential
