- History & Biography
The film ‘Auschwitz Untold: In Colour’ was commissioned for the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and is narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Ben Kingsley. In the film, 15 holocaust survivors (in UK,U.S., France, and Lithuania) give first-hand accounts of the rise of fascism from their perspective as children or teenagers. These survivors include possibly one of the last Roma resistance fighters who escaped a Nazi concentration camp to join the French underground at 18 years old. A thematic focus was to find survivors who could share untold stories of armed resistance outside and industrial sabotage inside the death camps. The film has received global distribution in US, UK, EU and Israel. The Roma survivor Raymond Gureme made the point that 75 years after the Nazi’s, the Romani community in France is still being persecuted. He agreed to participate in the hope that his voice would help young Roma continue in his footsteps.
