Under his guidance, they face extreme-cold challenges designed to push their minds and bodies to the absolute limit. Will they emerge feeling happier, healthier and stronger? The show is packed with reality, comedy, breath-taking cinematography and heart-stopping stunts. It’s originality and success come from tackling the subject of mental health, via an exciting, mainstream entertainment format. Amid a national mental health crisis, the show encouraged the public to embrace the cold, and open up about their issues. The programme inspired Macmillan Cancer Support to run a cold-water challenge that raised thousands, and NHS trusts have begun trialling the Wim Hof breathing method.
