Angel Pavement is one of Quentin Blake’s favourite tales, so we felt a real responsibility to do it justice. The three main characters brighten up the lives of the town’s residents with their ‘magic pencil’, making the enduring power of art the story’s core theme. This is clearly very dear to the book's author, but was equally important to everybody in our team, so we devoted a lot of time to making the sky-drawing sequence lyrical and joyful for the audience. We wanted the soundscape to mirror the naturally flowing organic style of the artwork, and so Angel Pavement features an original score, composed to picture and performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. We've updated the original book adding a regional voice cast and a diverse set of supporting characters. Angel Pavement is narrated by the Olivier Award Winning actor Adrian Lester, and features the voice talent of Simon Pegg.
