Filmed over the course of two years, Freddie Flintoff’s unlikely cricket team (many of whom had never left the country) included an Afghani refugee, a lad from one of the most deprived parts of Blackpool who had been in trouble with the police and many others who have been expelled from school and have a range of neuro diversities from ADHD to Autism. The premise of being on a sporting tour brought the boys together in a supportive and positive way, they opened up about their mental health, past traumatic experiences and built on existing friendships from the first series. Whilst most of the team had never picked up a bat before the first series, they all embraced the team spirit and passion for cricket, they wanted to win, they were competitive but it was about so much more than winning; it was about team work, friendship and truly life changing experiences.
