An African-American lesbian, a gay Asian-American, a 70-year old widow and an Indian-American, each star as lead daters in Netflix’s first unscripted dating series Dating Around. Through its diverse and authentic cast, Dating Around offers a snapshot of dating in New York City as one single goes on five first dates, over five nights, which are then seamlessly edited into one dating experience. Each episode reveals the high’s and low’s of dating, while embracing the awkwardness first dates and explore cultural norms and cultural clashes. The New York Times says “Netflix finally brings romance to reality TV’ on Dating Around and The New Yorker calls it a “study in human nature”. The series won the Critic’s Choice Real TV award for best relationship show in 2019.
