Life & Rhymes hosted by legendary poet Professor Benjamin Zephaniah, is a joyous celebration of spoken word performance filmed with a socially distanced audience outdoors at Battersea Park Bandstand. Life & Rhymes is an inclusive, diverse and original show which draws the viewer into a hitherto invisible world of spoken word. Here the audience snaps and clicks fingers to show appreciation of a finely tuned bit of word wizardry. With an open mic session every week random members of the audience get the chance to join the featured performers on this magical stage. Overthe series, poets explore the biggest topics in the world today, including racism, gender, sexuality and mental health. Each episode also features an open mic section, where a number of randomly selected audience members to share their own spoken word performance. Life & Rhymes is the first show of its kind in the UK, solely dedicated to spoken word performance it celebrates the very best poetry and spoken word talent.
