The first Canadian drama series from an all-Black creative team, THE PORTER is a historical drama showcased with a modern perspective. The series examines the important role that black railroad porters played in the economic and financial advancement of many in the black community in North America. THE PORTER was designed to celebrate the successes of its characters, rather than dwelling in the subservient nature of the porters’ work or the significant hardships faced by the Black community. At its heart, THE PORTER is about characters resisting oppression. We hope that viewers will see themselves in these characters and in their stories with the underlying theme of striving for what you deserve.
