- Feature Length Film
Men Up written by Matthew Barry is a feature length single drama inspired by the true story of one of the world's first medical trials for the drug that became Viagra, held in Swansea's Morriston Hospital in 1994. Matt’s ambition was to make the audience laugh and cry, a feat which we think he delivered beautifully in the finished film. The film respects the seriousness of men’s health but tempers moments of deep sadness and intimacy with companionship and laugh out loud sequences. There’s even a surprise dance routine! Men Up is a funny, frank drama about masculinity, mental health, family, friendship and love. It is an intimately, intrinsically Welsh film – a love letter to a time and place - and the people who lived there. But given the universality of the themes and global recognition of Viagra, the film also has a far broader appeal – presenting this brilliant slice of local history and appealing to audiences everywhere.
