Based on the novel Muleum by Erlend Loe, written by Johanne Algren, conceptualized by Annette K Olesen; directed by Kaspar Munk and produced by Ditte Milsted, Kamikaze is a moving new drama series from HBO Max. The story follows the fierce and charming 18-year-old Julie (Marie Reuther) on a journey of rediscovery, after losing her parents and brother in a plane crash. Kamikaze, was the first Max Original Commissioned and produced in Europe to air day and date across the entire HBO Max footprint, and the first Max Original from Denmark. Reuther won best actress in the Intl Competition at Series Mania Festival for her performance and has been selected as a 2022 European Shooting Star presented at Berlinale. Kamikaze was filmed in Denmark (Copenhagen), Canary Islands, South Korea (Seoul) and United Kingdom (London) and was produced with support from the Danish Film Institute (Public Service Fund) and developed with the support of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
