- Science & Technology

“Plastic People is one of those essential state-of-our-world documentaries”, Variety Magazine. Plastic People is the first film to thoroughly investigate the effects of microplastics on human health. The film follows science journalist Ziya Tong as she travels the globe, investigating the growing threat while seeking solutions. Microplastics have been found in human blood, organs and brain tissue. Almost every bit of plastic ever produced ends up ground down into “microplastics”. These invisible particles drift in the air, float in the water and sit in the soil. Now, leading scientists are even finding them in fetuses and the placentas of new mothers. “Plastic People” is the first film to link microplastics with obesity, infertility, Alzheimer’s Disease and cancers in humans.
