Toy Soldier was commissioned by CBC on the back of Mint Pictures' multi-award-winning documentary 'Hitler's Jewish Soldier?'. The film won five international awards, including a Rockie Award. The podcast allowed us to go deeper into this truth-is-stranger-than-fiction story. Each episode plunges viewers into the story through the lens of a different first-hand character. This searing series tells a globetrotting story that starts in Europe, wends its way to Australia and winds up in North America. The Personally feed reached a peak of 204,531 downloads in March 2025 - the most since season 1 ended in December 2022. Toy Soldier episodes totaled 283,565 downloads (as of May 31). Toy Soldier featured in the #1 spot in the New + Noteworthy section on Apple Podcasts Canada and was top spot in the Apple Canada trending section. The top countries on both Apple and Spotify were US, Canada and Australia.
